Welcome!
Life is unpredictable. As hard as we try to manage our daily lives and our relationships with friends, family, and colleagues, circumstances beyond our control can make us feel lost and isolated, sometimes hopeless. Unbearably difficult situations arise - through no fault of our own - and we feel like we'll never get through them. Even casual interactions can cause anxiety and send thoughts spinning in negative directions.
That's why we all occasionally need guidance: to see that there is always hope on the other side of adversity.
My name is Ann Horton, and I specialize in therapies that can help you resolve the personal issues that detract from the joy of your day-to-day life, whether they're born of recent misfortune or deeply rooted trauma. Good therapy requires growth, and change can be terrifying. But by learning new ways of coping with change you can create a more stable, more satisfying life. My goal is to help you have the life you want. While we can't change difficult situations of the past, we can work together to better understand and resolve the challenges in your life.
As a sex addiction therapist, I understand the problems and trauma associated with the shame and guilt that comes with sex addiction, and the consequences to both the addicts and their families. There is help for you or your loved one.
I specialize in working with partners, because for partners of those who act out sexually, the trauma is deeply felt and impacts every area of their lives, upending their world as they knew it.
"Change your thoughts and you change your world." - Norman Vincent Peale
By applying various therapeutic approaches and techniques, we will work to change long standing behavior problems or negative perceptions that may be holding you back from experiencing a more fulfilling and meaningful life. I specialize in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). In addition, therapies such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) can help relieve and resolve abuse issues, traumatic memories, and other emotional blockades that keep you from more fully entering into life and enjoying your life's work. In addition, there is some highly effective sex addiction therapy available. You can find more information on these therapies on the Therapeutic Info and Links page.
I'm a good listener, and that's where healing begins.... Today you are one step closer to a new you, feeling empowered and on a positive path to growth and well-being.
Whether you are looking for support and guidance through a challenging situation, have issues in the past that may be holding you back, or you are just ready to move in a new direction in your life, I look forward to working with you to achieve your goals.
