I received my Masters in Counseling Psychology from City University of Seattle in 2006, and have been practicing therapy professionally in Seattle and the Eastside for over 16 years. I spent five years as a case manager and therapist in a community mental health center, where I primarily worked with older adults and immigrants in a fast-paced, multicultural setting. For the past several years I have run my own private practice, counseling clients for a variety of issues – from depression and anxiety to trauma and abuse recovery. I am trained to use EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) therapy, and am a member of the international association, EMDRIA. I also have been certified in sex addiction therapy, and use the task-based model of therapy to work with addicts. I work with both the addicts and their partners, but I prefer working with partners as they deal with trauma and recovery.
I have always been drawn to psychology and take a keen interest in learning why people do what they do. I was an accountant for over thirty years, and I often found that my greatest joy was in the one-to-one interactions I had with my clients. Eventually I decided that I wanted to go back to school and get a degree in a field that would enable me to work more directly with people. I felt God calling me to a career in professional counseling, and I have been extremely blessed to do what I love for the past 16+ years.
I have been married to my second husband for over 43 years and together we have raised two kids in a blended family. We are now blessed with two grandsons. I love to discover new ways to help people and am always eager to read new therapeutic studies and approaches.
